A Little Princess

Reflections of the Last Month

Well being a Mom has definitely changed my life.

A few things I think of when I look back...

The ocean, flowers and an overflowing plate of crablegs used to fit the term Beautiful. Then I saw Minka smile.

I once thought a commercial break took Forever in the middle of my favorite TV show.  Then I was told to wait in the pediatricians office with a naked, hungry two week old baby underneath the air conditioner vent.

When I found out our new city doesn't have a Qdoba restaurant, I was Heartbroken.  Then I saw Minka's first tears.

I used to be bummed when I only got 7 hours of sleep at night.  Last night I woke up at 2 AM and was Excited to stay awake for 2 hours hearing silence from Minka's crib.

I thought moving out of my parents house, earning a Bachelor's degree, getting married, moving across the country and finding a full time job were big Accomplishments. Then I got Minka to stop crying.

It has only been a month and she has already taught me so much about life. I have loved every bit of it and am so excited to share my life with my new best friend.

And I thought I was going to be doing the teaching around here...silly me.

1 Month Old

Today has been a bit busy with a doctor appointment for me this morning and Minka going to her first babysitter ever. Then this afternoon she had a lot of napping that was top priority.  So I just got around to dressing her up and taking a few pictures to capture her 1 month birthday.

I thought it would be cute to dress her up in the purple tutu.  She was not as excited.

She was more excited to be in her birthday suit.

In the last month her hair has grown and she's been developing a double chin :)

She has also learned so much.  She even knows how many months old she is!

Primary: Complete

Yesterday was a very big day for Jareth.  He passed his second check ride (similar to a final exam) to graduate from Primary and move to the next course of flight school.  Next week he starts his Instruments section, one part academics, one part simulators.  Congratulations and Good Luck!

An evening of fun

First a relief of the bladder was necessary.

So we thought it was time for a bath.  She sported a nice comb over.

3 Weeks Old

My parents recently left our place and their help was very much appreciated!  Thank you for coming to visit, cook, clean, and take care of Minka.  Glad your travels back to MN went smoothly.  We'll see you again soon!

Date Night!

Jareth and I took advantage of our free babysitters while they were here.  We enjoyed a delicious dinner and did a little shopping while Minka hung out with Grandma and Grandpa.

Tummy Time

Minka has started to do some tummy time and so far she really enjoys it.  She seems to have pretty good head control for a two and a half week old.

Two week check up

Minka had her two week check up today.  They were expecting her to weigh at least her birth weight, 7 lbs 7 oz and she surprised us all weighing in at 8 lbs 6 oz!  She gained 1 1/4 pounds from her last check up a week and a half ago.  She has also grown to 21 1/2 inches up from 20 inches at birth.  Minka is a happy healthy girl!

Before we knew the sex of Minka and before we had her name picked out, we referred to her as Gertie, fully knowing there was NO WAY we would be actually naming her this.  But this little piggy has now inherited the name Gertie and they have started their friendship early on.
